RE: Dunshaughlin – ASD Unit
Dear Minister McHugh,
I am writing to you today seeking your support and your commitment to ensure that the new extension planned for Dunshaughlin Community College will have a special needs class, ASD Unit.
Children have an expectation and I believe an entitlement to continue their education in their own communities, keeping the same set of friends they have gone through primary school with.
We currently have two streams of special education, in Ratoath and now with the recent funding allocation, in St. Peter’s College Dunboyne – this leaves Dunshaughlin as the only Secondary school in South Meath without an ASD unit. This opportunity to provide both the funding and the commitment must not be missed.
Your support and assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Regina Doherty TD
